What this tool is for

Grants in the UK are scattered across government schemes, local councils, charities, energy suppliers and industry bodies. This finder takes a short description of your situation and points you towards the categories of grant that are most likely to be a fit, so you can skip the ones you would never qualify for.

It is a starting point, not an application. You still need to check the current rules with the body running each grant before you apply, because criteria and budgets change through the year.

When it is worth using

Use it if you know roughly what you need money for but have no idea which scheme might cover it. That could be insulation or a new boiler, help with a disability adaptation, funding for a small business or self employed project, support with training or course fees, or a one off payment to get through a hard patch.

It is aimed at people in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If you are applying on behalf of someone else, a relative or a client, you can still use it, just answer the questions based on their situation rather than yours.

How it works

You answer a handful of short questions about what the money is for, who it is for, and a few basic details like tenure, income band or business status where relevant. The tool then gives you a plain English summary of the grant types worth looking at, along with the common reasons applications in each category get turned down. Nothing you enter is saved to your account or shared, and you do not need to sign up to see the results.
